Named for a genuine piece of Virginia Beach history (there was once an actual pleasure house at the end of Pleasure House Road, with a lookout posted to ring a bell when police approached), this Chesapeake Bay-area taproom leans into its local roots. The beer lineup ranges beyond the usual IPA-heavy rotation, and a large shaded back patio with a second bar opens in the late afternoon and evening, with food trucks on rotation. Strip-mall exterior aside, it draws a loyal neighborhood crowd.

★★☆☆☆
Weird vibes - everyone stopped and stared at us when we walked in, but didn't smile or say anything.
We tasted a hazy IPA - it did not taste like a hazy IPA and it was not good.
We tried to order another beer and the bartender told us not to as it was not good "we missed the mark when we brewed that one". Appreciated the warning.
Ordered a stout which was basic but decent. Ordered a sour which smelled and tasted like throw-up. Did not finish. Left as fast as we could.
Would not recommend.

Tasty beer selection with a "feels like home" service. If you have not had an opportunity to visit Pleasure House Brewing make sure you add it to your "to do" list. You can thank me later!
